The annual Miami-Dade County Public School’s District 7 End-of-Year Town Hall Celebration brought together students, families, educators, and community members for an evening of celebration at Miami Killian Senior High School. The recent event highlighted key district updates while showcasing the talent and dedication of students and educators across Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS).

School Board member Mary Blanco presented student awards for academic achievement and citizenship, and recognized each District 7 2026 Teacher of the Year and Rookie Teacher of the Year nominee, honoring their academic success and contributions as positive members of their school communities. Each nominee was also recognized for their dedication to education and impact on student success.
Three special honors were also presented during the program. The Andrea Nicole Camps Dance and Arts Award was awarded to Carolina Sosa of TERRA Environmental Research Institute. Julie Vivian of TERRA Environmental Research Institute was recognized as a 2026 Florida School-Related Employee of the Year Finalist, and Lorena Garrote of Jorge Mas Canosa Middle School was honored as an M-DCPS 2026 Assistant Principal of the Year Finalist.
The celebration featured a wide array of student performances from schools across the district, including the Miami Killian Senior High School Band, Caribbean K-8 Center Cheerleaders and 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project, Robert Morgan Senior High School Choir, Miami Killian Senior High School JROTC and Killian Dance Impulse. Additional performances included the Caribbean K-8 Center Drumline, Devon Aire K-8 Center Jaguar Elite Dance Team, Norma Butler Bossard Elementary School Drama and Chorus Club, and a special performance by Ashton Flow of Jack D. Gordon Elementary School. The evening also included the Pledge of Allegiance led by Lia Fife and the National Anthem performed by Sophia Leyva.
Blanco extended special thanks to Miami Killian Senior High School principal Dr. Earl Burth and his administrative team, including activities director Mark Barnett. She also thanked South Region Superintendent Rafael A. Villalobos and the entire South Region Office for their leadership and support in making the event a success.
