Oceans 234, Deerfield Beach’s landmark oceanfront dining destination, is bringing some of South Florida’s most celebrated culinary talent to the coast for its annual Summer Chef Series, running from July 9 through September 30.

The rotating chef residency will feature seven acclaimed chefs, each contributing dishes inspired by their individual backgrounds, techniques and culinary influences. Throughout the series, the visiting chefs will collaborate with Oceans 234 Executive Chef Duvan Marin to create one appetizer and one entrée for the restaurant’s rotating specials menu.
The series begins July 9 with James Beard Award-nominated Chef Dean Max, culinary director of The Break House Kitchen + Beach Bar, Oceans 234’s sister restaurant. Drawing inspiration from his upbringing on Virginia’s Eastern Shore, Max will offer a Crispy Soft Shell Crab appetizer and Grilled Lamb Skewers served with eggplant caviar and red pepper chermoula.
Chef David MacLennan, owner of Even Keel Fish Shack, will follow with an ingredient-driven menu shaped by his relationships with local fishers and farmers.
Additional participants include “Hell’s Kitchen” finalist and James Beard semifinalist Paula DaSilva, director of food and beverage at PGA National Resort; “Chopped” champion Adrienne Grenier of Burlock Coast at The Ritz-Carlton, Fort Lauderdale; and Michael Hackman of West Palm Beach’s aioli Sour Dough Bakery & Café, a two-time MICHELIN Bib Gourmand recipient.

The series concludes with husband-and-wife chefs Jeff McInnis and Janine Booth, the team behind Root & Bone and Stiltsville Fish Bar. Their Southern-inspired cuisine has earned the pair multiple James Beard Award nominations.
