Miami-Dade County School Board Member Roberto J. Alonso has been awarded the 2026 President’s Award by the Florida School Boards Association. Presented by FSBA President Angie Gallo, the award recognizes Alonso’s leadership and contributions to public education, particularly in helping schools navigate technology and artificial intelligence in the classroom.

Alonso received the honor alongside his colleague Thomas Kennedy for their work as co-chairs of the FSBA AI and IT Committee. Through this role, Alonso has helped support school districts as they explore safe, practical, and responsible ways to use emerging technologies to benefit teachers and students.
