This year the foundation surpassed last year’s $1 million benchmark as the community rallied to support the new emergency room at Jackson Memorial Hospital, now the largest in the nation.

Running through Apr. 30, the community-focused fundraising initiative called on individuals in Miami-Dade County to “be the one” to make a difference, reinforcing the critical role Jackson Health System plays in the lives of South Florida residents.

Funds raised during the campaign will directly support the new emergency room at Jackson Memorial Hospital, helping expand access to world-class and cutting-edge care as demand for emergency services continues to grow across the county.

This year’s sponsors included: City of Miami Commissioner Ralph Rosado, District 4; Dade County Federal Credit Union; Florida Fresh Markets; Kennedy Kids; The Miami Heat; and Sunshine Gasoline.

“This incredible outpouring of support shows exactly what is possible when the community comes together with a shared purpose,” said Flavia Llizo, CEO of Jackson Health Foundation. “Thanks to everyone who chose to be the one and help us paint the town blue, we are making a meaningful impact on the future of public healthcare in Miami-Dade. Every gift brings us closer to ensuring world-class emergency care is available to everyone, when they need it most.”

One Day for Jackson, now in its third year, continues to grow as a signature community campaign, uniting donors, partners and residents in support of Jackson Health System, one of the largest public health systems in the nation and a vital safety net for Miami-Dade County.
