Miami-Dade County Commissioner Vicki Lopez today announced that the Metro-Dade Firefighters IAFF Local 1403, Firefighters of Miami Beach IAFF Local 1510, and the Florida State Fraternal Order of Police, District 6, have joined the South Florida PBA in their members’ endorsement of Lopez’s campaign for election to the Miami-Dade County Commission, District 5. Together, the organizations represent thousands of firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers, and law enforcement officers serving communities across Miami-Dade County.

In their endorsement letter, the members of Metro-Dade Firefighters Local 1403 praised Lopez’s longstanding commitment to first responders and public safety, writing that “this endorsement is not given lightly – it has been earned.” Their endorsement highlighted Lopez’s record supporting proper staffing, firefighter health and wellness, cancer prevention efforts, and the stability of regional fire rescue services through her years of strong advocacy as a member of the Florida Legislature — a commitment to public safety Lopez continues to advance on the County Commission.

“Commissioner Vicki Lopez has consistently demonstrated that she understands what it means to support the men and women who put themselves in harm’s way to protect our community,” said William McAllister IV, President of Metro-Dade Firefighters Local 1403. “She recognizes that public safety requires serious leadership, smart investments, and a commitment to ensuring first responders have the resources they need to do their jobs safely and effectively. In their endorsement letter, the Firefighters of Miami Beach, IAFF Local 1510 cited Lopez’s strong leadership and steadfast support for public safety professionals serving Miami Beach and Miami-Dade County — praising her for helping ensure “a safer and more secure community for all residents” and expressing appreciation for her continued support of firefighters and first responders.

“Commissioner Vicki Lopez has already proven herself to be a strong advocate for public safety and for the firefighters who protect our community,” said Adonis Garcia, President of IAFF Local 1510, Firefighters of Miami Beach. “She supports first responders, prioritizes investments in public safety, and makes sure our residents feel safe and protected. We are proud to endorse Vicki Lopez in her campaign for County Commission.”

The Florida State Fraternal Order of Police, District 6, an organization representing more than 4,500 law enforcement officers throughout Miami-Dade County, also announced its endorsement of Lopez, citing her leadership on the County Commission and steadfast support for law enforcement officers and public safety.

“Public safety is not a slogan — it is a responsibility,” said Felix Del Rosario, Director of the Florida State Fraternal Order of Police, District 6. “Commissioner Lopez has shown strong leadership, a collaborative approach, and a genuine respect for the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers every day. She previously served in the Florida House of Representatives and has built a reputation for delivering results, fostering collaboration, and advancing policies that strengthen infrastructure, protect neighborhoods, and improve quality of life for residents across Miami-Dade County.
