The honor, voted on by his peers, “recognizes career excellence, leadership, and community service among public works professionals with more than 20 years of experience,” according to Rod Gibson, town spokesperson.

Public works professionals from across Florida and the Southeast attend this yearly event to share ideas, strengthen their expertise and explore new technologies. The award highlights directors who have made significant contributions to the profession, the American Public Works Association, and the communities they serve.

Town Mayor Tim Meerbott said he thought the award was well deserved.

“Alfredo’s leadership has helped define the standard of excellence we strive for in Cutler Bay,” Mayor Meerbott said. “This recognition from his peers speaks volumes. It reflects not only his deep knowledge and professionalism, but also the pride and care he brings to serving our residents every day.”

Town Manager Rafael Casals said the award reflects Quintero’s longstanding commitment to the profession and to the residents of Cutler Bay.

“Alfredo has built a reputation for delivering results, leading with integrity, and always keeping the community first,” Casals said. “For him to be recognized by fellow public works directors from across Florida makes this honor even more special. We are proud to see his work and dedication recognized at this level.”
