Andrea Clement is an emerging Miami-based artist and educator, renowned for her unique photo encaustic artwork that captures the beauty and fragility of Florida’s environment and wildlife. With over 30 years of experience in photography, Andrea has worked on notable projects, including collaborations with the Research Laboratories of the French National Museums in Paris, the French Archaeological Mission in Egypt, and local fine art portraiture and nature photography. In 2014, her work was featured on the Discovery Health Channel. Since 2018, Andrea has focused primarily on photo encaustic art, using the medium to tell the story of Florida’s natural landscape and its ongoing challenges, both past and present. In addition to her artistic practice, she also teaches encaustic painting workshops in Miami.

Andrea is the featured artist in the Contemporary Currents exhibition, STRATUM: A Layered Perspective of South Florida, currently on view in the Deering Estate’s Richmond Cottage Garden Room. An Artist Talk for STRATUM will be held on May 24 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., free with RSVP on the Deering Estate Eventbrite page. The exhibition will be on view until July 20. All exhibition events are free with admission and RSVP.

The Deering Estate is proud to house 17 brilliant Artists-in-Residence for the 2026 season. Each artist interprets the historical, architectural, intellectual, archeological, and natural elements of the Deering Estate in their own artistic practice, while pursuing innovative projects, studio work, connecting with other artists, and engaging the public.
Each artist has a unique artistic practice, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, photography, cinematography, performance arts and the literary arts.

Deering Estate, located at 16701 SW 72 Ave. in Miami, is a 21st Century house museum, cultural and ecological field station, and a national landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places, owned by the State of Florida and managed by Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department.
