Village clerk and elections chief Missy Arocha confirms that for the 2026 election, candidates may qualify for Mayor, Councilmember Seat 1 and Councilmember Seat 3.
“Please note that candidates are not qualified until the completion of the qualifying period which begins at noon on Aug. 3, 2026, and ends at noon Aug. 14, 2026,” Arocha said.
To date, the registered candidates are as follows:
For Mayor
John DuBois (registered June 7, 2024) (withdrew candidacy on June 18, 2026 to run against District 8 County Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins).
David Singer (registered Feb. 21, 2025).
Tamara Mourino (registered Dec. 12, 2025).
Karen Baez-Wallis (registered Jan. 27, 2026).
For Councilmember Seat 1
Tana Llinas (registered Feb. 24, 2026).
For Councilmember Seat 3
Albert James Lara (registered June 27, 2025).
Lasaly Changkachith (registered June 9, 2026).
Outgoing council members are Mayor Karyn Cunningham as well as Patrick Fiore (Seat 1) and Marsha Matson (Seat 3). All are term limited and cannot seek reelection to their seats.

It is entirely possible that additional candidates may register and qualify by the last day, Aug. 14, because this has happened before in previous election cycles.
