The event brought together recent scholarship recipients, current EMT program graduates, firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, and former program graduates who shared their personal experiences, career journeys, and advice with students preparing to begin their EMT education through Miami Dade College.

Participants had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the challenges, responsibilities, and opportunities that come with serving their community as first responders.

The EMT Scholarship Program was created to help recent Miami-Dade County high school graduates obtain their State of Florida EMT certification while providing a direct pathway into careers in emergency medical services and fire rescue. Through the program, MDFR awards scholarships to eligible students, creating opportunities for the next generation of public safety professionals.

“Today’s students have the opportunity to learn from those who once stood exactly where they are now,” said Fire Chief Ray Jadallah. “By providing education, mentorship, and a pathway into public service, we are helping develop the future firefighters, paramedics, and emergency medical professionals who will one day serve and protect Miami-Dade County.”

The EMT certification earned through the program often serves as the first step toward careers as Firefighter/EMTs, Firefighter/Paramedics, Emergency Medical Technicians, and other public safety professionals throughout South Florida.

The event highlighted the current success of the program and the importance of creating meaningful opportunities for local youth. Many former scholarship recipients who attended the event have gone on to build successful careers in emergency services, demonstrating the lasting impact of the initiative.
