As the nation celebrates Independence Day and begins commemorating America’s 250th anniversary, South Florida PBS will present compelling programs exploring the people, events, and ideals that shaped our country.
Throughout the month, viewers can also continue celebrating the Summer of Space with inspiring stories of exploration, innovation, and discovery. From immersive history experiences to local storytelling, educational resources, and trusted health programming, South Florida PBS offers something for audiences of every age.

Summer of Space
The Summer of Space continues throughout July with fascinating stories about exploration, innovation, and humanity’s journey beyond Earth.
Viewers can relive the historic Apollo 11 mission in 8 Days to the Moon and Back, airing Tuesday, July 7, at 10 PM on WPBT.
Also premiering this month is Once Upon a Time in Space, a four-part series chronicling the milestones, technological breakthroughs, and international collaborations that have shaped modern space exploration. The series airs Wednesday, July 15, at 10 PM on WPBT and Sunday, July 19, at 10 PM on WXEL.
South Florida PBS Original Programming
South Florida PBS presents Legacy on a Plate: The Restaurants That Built South Florida, an original documentary hosted by Chef Michelle Bernstein that celebrates the iconic restaurants, flavors, and traditions that have shaped South Florida’s culinary heritage.
The program premieres Monday, July 13, at 9 PM on WPBT and Thursday, July 23, at 10 PM on WXEL.

Napoleon: The Immersive Saga
Travel back to 1817 on the island of Saint Helena as Napoleon Bonaparte recounts the defining moments of his life. Through immersive storytelling, breathtaking virtual reality, and detailed 3D recreations, visitors will experience pivotal events including the Battle of Austerlitz, the rise of the Vendôme Column, and the dramatic retreat from the Berezina.

KidVision continues to engage young learners all summer long with educational programming, family events, and hands-on activities.

This summer, children can also join Miss Penny for Full STEAM Ahead Goes to Space!, featuring seven weeks of activities that explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM). New episodes air weekly throughout the summer on WPBT and WXEL.

HEALTH CHANNEL HIGHLIGHTS:
The Health Channel continues to deliver trusted health information with programming designed to educate and empower viewers.
As hurricane season continues, Ask the Doc: No Appointment Needed airs weekdays at 12:30PM on the Health Channel. This month’s featured episode focuses on How to Prepare Medically for Hurricane Emergencies, offering practical guidance to help families stay safe.
Viewers can also watch Pet Preparedness: Essential Hurricane Checklist on LivingMinute.TV, where Dr. Rena Carlson, DVM, of the American Veterinary Medical Association shares expert advice for protecting pets before, during, and after a storm.
