A small, single-handed sailing dinghy, the Optimist, or Opti, is for use by young people up to age 15. The USODA is the national-class organization for Optimist sailing in the nation and Roachell qualified to represent the U.S. at the 2026 Optimist World Championship in Tangier, Morocco, beginning on June 18.

Originally from Texas, Roachell joined the Palmer Trinity community in sixth grade and is recognized for excelling both academically and in sailing. Her aspiration is to one day compete at the Olympic level.

“Audrey’s accomplishment is a testament to her extensive training and preparation to be able to compete at this level,” said Patrick Roberts, head of school. “We will be watching with keen interest as she competes internationally.”

The Palmer Trinity community plans to support Roachell as she represents the school and the U.S. in Morocco this summer.
