The South Florida Youth Symphony (SFYSmusic.org.), fresh from winning a Gold Medal at the prestigious Young Bohemia 2026 Music Festival in Prague, Czechia, still is taking applications for its annual Summer Music Camp, June 22-July 17, at the Pawley Creative Arts Center on the Miami Dade College North Campus, 11380 NW 27 Ave.<\/p>\n

The popular summer program encompasses kids 8 to 18 years old and will feature beginners, intermediate and advanced lessons in a wide variety of ensembles. Half day sessions are available to youngsters beginning at age 3.<\/p>\n

Full day sessions are 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., while half-day sessions are 8:30-11 a.m.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re very excited about this year\u2019s Summer Music Camp,\u201d said Marjorie Hahn, SFYS creative and executive director. \u201cAfter our recent Gold Medal performance in Prague, parents are anxious to get their children involved with us.\u201d<\/p>\n

The honor marks the ensemble\u2019s second Gold Medal victory in Prague. SFYS won top honors at the festival in 2019 and captured Gold at the Heritage Music Festival in Washington, DC, in 2017. In 2020, the SFYS \u2014 restricted to online performances due to the COVID pandemic \u2014 won an Emmy.<\/p>\n

Tuition for the 19-day camp (full day) is $800 and $700 for siblings for families with more than one attendee. Both prices include a non-refundable $150 deposit. Financial aid is available.<\/p>\n
