What sets Mayer apart is that her commitment to the arts is anything but ceremonial. In a single recent stretch, she attended a collage workshop at New World School of the Arts, took in a high school and college production of\u00a0The Mystery of Edwin Drood<\/em>, met newly arrived resident artists at a Fountainhead gathering, saw\u00a0The Zionists\u00a0<\/em>at the Colony Theatre on Miami Beach, caught\u00a0Searching for Willie Lynch<\/em>\u00a0by M Ensemble at the Sandrell Rivers Theatre, and finished the week at the Arsht Center for a high school competition staging of Mamma Miami. For Mayer, this is simply the norm.<\/p>\n

A Cornerstone of Miami\u2019s Cultural Identity<\/strong><\/p>\n

That immersion in the cultural life of South Florida is central to who she is \u2014 and to what she brings to CGAF. The Festival has long stood as a cornerstone of Miami\u2019s cultural identity, transforming the city\u2019s scenic bayfront into a vibrant open-air gallery where artists and audiences connect in meaningful ways. That legacy \u2014 built over more than six decades \u2014 is something Mayer is deeply committed to preserving, even as she looks ahead to new opportunities for growth.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis Festival has always been about more than art \u2014 it\u2019s about connection, inspiration, and community,\u201d Mayer said. \u201cOur goal is to continue creating an experience where artists and audiences come together in meaningful and lasting ways.\u201d<\/p>\n

A professional event planner by trade, Mayer brings to the Board a strong reputation for strategic thinking, community engagement, and philanthropy. Her involvement spans an exceptional range of civic and cultural organizations, including the Center for Folk and Community Art, PartnersForArt+Design, the Department of Women in The Military, the Collins Park Neighborhood Association, the City of Miami Beach Commission for Women, the Miami-Dade Department of Cultural Affairs, the South Beach Chamber Ensemble, Comic Kids at Nicklaus Children\u2019s Hospital, Women of Culture South Beach \u2013 InterTalento, and the JCC Cultural Arts program. That breadth of connection across communities and disciplines makes her a natural fit to lead one of South Florida\u2019s most celebrated cultural institutions.<\/p>\n

At the heart of her leadership is a belief that the Festival is far more than a three-day event. It is a year-round platform for fostering creativity, supporting artists, and expanding access to the arts. From scholarship programs benefiting students at Florida International University and Miami-Dade high schools to initiatives that nurture emerging talent, Mayer sees CGAF as an engine for cultural enrichment that extends well beyond Presidents\u2019 Day weekend.<\/p>\n
