Backyard Chefs and Restaurant Pros alike demonstrated their burger grilling prowess.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She said that attendees were able to purchase tickets to sample each of the Pro category burgers and vote for their top choice. Top performers walked away with cash prizes, signage to boast their new title, and a trophy.<\/p>\n<p>Village Mayor Karyn Cunningham served as a judge in the burger contest, along with Florida State Rep. Omar Blanco and David Sampedro from Panter Panter and Sampedro, a top sponsor of the event. They tasted and scored each burger.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis event continues to grow because it captures the spirit of our village \u2014 energy, creativity, and community pride,\u201d Mayor Cunningham said. \u201cA huge shout out to our parks department for knocking it out of the ballpark. Seeing more than 1,500 people out enjoying Coral Reef Park is a reminder that the heart of our village is its people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The winners of the Bunder-dog category (amateurs) were Knecht Level Burgers, comprised of team members and long-time Palmetto Bay residents Chris Knecht, Martin Cannings and Tom Barbato. Both The Top Bun award for the best professional burger and the Bun-in-a Million People\u2019s Choice award went to Babe\u2019s Meat &amp; Counter, a local staple in South Dade.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/miamimovershub.com\/?p=472\">M-DCPS, BusPatrol relaunch school bus camera program<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur goal this year was to grow this event and add burger samples for attendees,\u201d said Fanny Carmona, Parks and Recreation director. \u201cWe accomplished both.
