Because if that bet is right, accountability becomes optional. As conversations heat up around\u00a0 redistricting and control of the House, this is being framed as strategy. Who gets how many\u00a0 seats. Which party wins. What maps hold power. But underneath all of that is something more\u00a0 consequential. What happens when elections are shaped in a way that reduces the need to\u00a0 answer for real life outcomes? When districts are drawn to be safe, the pressure to perform\u00a0 disappears. When outcomes don\u2019t threaten power, results stop mattering.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And that\u2019s where voters come in. Because the assumption being made is not just about maps. It\u2019s about you. It\u2019s the assumption that if you identify as a Republican, you will vote Republican. No matter what your grocery bill looks like.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

No matter what you\u2019re paying at the pump.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

No matter what you\u2019re paying for healthcare premiums, or whether you can even afford to see a\u00a0 doctor when you need one.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

No matter whether the wars you were told would end are still dragging on, or new ones keep\u00a0 pulling America back into conflict.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

No matter whether the truth ever fully comes out, including what\u2019s in the Epstein files and who\u00a0 is held accountable.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

No matter whether your rent has gone up, your insurance has spiked, or your wages haven\u2019t\u00a0 kept pace.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s the belief that the issues that divide us can be made to outweigh the conditions we all live\u00a0 in. That if the conversation is loud enough about who belongs, who is right, and who is wrong,\u00a0 then it won\u2019t matter what\u2019s happening in your bank account or your daily life. And to be clear,\u00a0 those issues matter to people. Deeply. But so do the things we share.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Because most Americans, regardless of party, want the same basic things. Affordable living. Safe communities. A fair shot at opportunity. A system that works for them, not just for the\u00a0 powerful.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s the 90 percent.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But the bet being made is that the 10 percent, the issues that divide, can be used to override\u00a0 the 90 percent we have in common. That if you are pushed hard enough on identity, culture, or\u00a0 fear, you won\u2019t demand results on the things that actually shape your life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And if that works, accountability disappears.<\/span><\/p>\n

Because reality doesn\u2019t check your party registration before it hits you. Families don\u2019t\u00a0 experience rising costs differently based on ideology. Communities don\u2019t absorb policy decisions\u00a0 differently because of party. And economic pressure doesn\u2019t care how you voted. The effects\u00a0 are real. And they are shared. That\u2019s why this moment isn\u2019t just about redistricting. It\u2019s about\u00a0 whether voters will demand performance over allegiance. Whether they will ask a simple\u00a0 question of anyone seeking power:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Is my life better because of the policies you support?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Not your rhetoric.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Not your party.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Not your ability to win an argument.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Your results.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Because the truth is, the things we argue about the most are often not the things that shape\u00a0 our lives the most. Healthcare costs don\u2019t care how you vote.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Grocery bills don\u2019t check your party. Gas prices don\u2019t rise differently for Republicans or\u00a0 Democrats. And the ability to see a doctor, afford your medication, or take care of your family is\u00a0 not a partisan issue, it\u2019s a human one. That\u2019s the 90 percent. And yet, the expectation is that\u00a0 your vote will be decided somewhere in the 10 percent.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the arguments.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the outrage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the things that divide us.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Because if that holds, accountability never has to show up. But if voters decide that their lived\u00a0 reality matters more than their political identity, then everything changes. Because at that\u00a0 point, power has to answer to results.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
